I've had the pleasure of working for some exciting new ventures this summer. Yesterday I showed you some of the work I've done at a new lighting store. Today I wanted to show you a little of a new design studio that has just opened in Norwood, Ohio. This studio has been designed to be a one-stop shop where you can select flooring, lighting, furniture, art and faux painting for you home or office. I think it's a great idea - no more running all over town to make selections and try to get everything coordinated. This studio is in a three-story, renovated building with lots of character.
One of the areas I did a faux finish on was a rough, pitted concrete wall. My Tuscan Knockdown finish was the perfect answer to play up the "character" of the wall and add to the uniqueness of the room. I showed you the wall in progress here: http://stampwithflair.typepad.com/michellesdesignworks/2008/07/thats-one-looong-wall.html Here's a photo from the grand opening.
The grand opening was also a fundraiser for Life Center to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation through art. In this area, artists were creating a mural for the Life Center.
And here's another display wall that I did. The finish is called Bella Fresco - a pretty, two-color, organic faux on its own. The damask design was stencilled on with a drop shadow and crackled plaster. It gives an old world feel with beautiful 3-D detail. Depending on the style of stencil, this could look pretty in many styles of decor.
