Getting creative and playing around with the many paints, plasters and foils I have on hand has been an exciting experience this summer. I've got a large work table set up in my garage with paint cans here, there and everywhere, waiting for inspiration to hit. I know the messy garage is driving my husband crazy! I just hate to put anything away because I'm afraid that I'll forget the ideas in my head. I can't wait to try some of my new-found "happy accidents" on walls somewhere too. 

Here are two companion pieces that I just finished on gallery-wrapped canvasses that have been built, layer upon layer with several types of plasters, a custom cut stencil, foil and glass beads. I love the color combination and how the two pieces work together.

"Eat" artwork perfect for a Hostess gift

I recently set up a booth at a Northern Kentucky craft fair. Over the next few days, I thought I'd show you some of the pieces I created. Sometimes we don't need a faux finish on the walls, but the same techniques can be used to create beautiful art.

Many of the canvasses are for sale, and would be perfect for holiday or hostess gifts. If you are interested in a specific piece, please contact me. I'm also available to create customized art commissions.

This would make a unique gift for a hostess. A tan faux linen strie was painted on the background, and the "eat" is black. Perfect neutral colors to coordinate with any decor.  This one is 11x14 in a distressed barnwood type frame. Cost is $28. The design can be duplicated in any customized color to match your decor. Unframed pieces are $18.

I've also done the same design in a 29wx15 3/4h size. This piece would make a nice focal point on a wall. It is big, which is what you want to create a real "wow"!

The linen strie on this one is a bit darker. I used a Porter Paint color called Brown Suede with a beige basecoat. This would look great hung unframed. Cost is $28.

Aaah! Time to create!

Summer break has been pretty laid back at my house so far. For my kids that means, "I'm booored." For me however, that means time to paint. . . experiment. . . play. . . create. True bliss!

Here are two canvasses that I recently finished. Turquoise, silver and white, with a touch of black to make it all pop - a beautiful combination. They make the perfect pair. The 8 x 10 pieces of art could be displayed together on a wall, or sitting pretty on a shelf perhaps. In a sweet girl's bedroom they would be such positive inspiration.
